IT Service Desk Technician

Job Description

The IT Service Desk Technician is responsible for handling first level of IT support requests from our external clients. This relates to all business office technology, to include: workstations, servers, printers, networks, hardware and software. As an IT Service Desk Specialist, you will work alongside our seasoned Solution Specialists to support our clients via remote sessions. The position involves significant interaction with clients and coworkers in diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions. This position will involve being on call for evenings and weekends work.

This is a full time position that is paid an hourly wage and includes eligibility for health benefits and performance bonuses.

Job Duties

  • Working directly with clients via phone and remote sessions to diagnose and resolve PC, network and server issues
  • Providing IT Support relating to Microsoft’s core business applications and operating systems
  • Delivering basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security, VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
  • Monitoring the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications, and responding accordingly through service tickets
  • Communicating with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages

Job Skills

Qualified candidates MUST:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years working full time supporting Windows based PCs in a business network environment
  • Have successfully completed at least one MCP level certification (Versions must be currently recognized by Microsoft)
  • Have an associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent education/experience
  • Have strong interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, verbal and written communication skills, active listening and customer-care
  • Have organized and detail work habits
  • Work efficiently and constantly within documented procedures
  • Have very strong skills in both using and supporting Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to diagnose technical issues
  • Be adept at multi-tasking and adapting to changes quickly
  • Show a positive attitude and ability to provide quality Customer Service
  • Have strong typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to document all time and services delivered into the ticketing system (Connectwise)
